Our Pastor

Vincent Thomas was born in the small college town of Butzbach, Germany. At the age of three years he came to the United States where he was raised in Bordentown, New Jersey.  He finished high school and joined the U.S. Navy in October 1980.  He served as hull technician for eight years based out of San Diego, California.

Upon completing his enlistment in the Navy, he spent the next five years living a not so colorful lifestyle struggling with addiction on the streets of San Diego.  He struggled in and out of NA meetings trying to obtain sobriety.  In a jail cell on December 12, 1991 Vincent finally heard and listened to God’s calling.  He has remained clean from drugs since that date.  Following God’s command he committed himself to ministering to the recovering and homeless addicts on the streets of El Cajon, California.

His work for the Lord started out in the park in El Cajon, ministering and feeding the homeless souls with God’s word and nourishment in their own environment.  In September 1996 he founded and established Spiritual Warriors in Christ Homeless and Recovery Ministries.  His commitment and devotion to this ministry has been relentless in touching and guiding the souls of the addicted and homeless men and women in the East County of San Diego.  Though the calling placed upon his heart by God he has helped win many souls for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ending their struggle with addiction.

Having been under the watchful eye of Greater New Life Ministries on August 24, 1997, Vincent Thomas accepted the calling of Our Lord Jesus Christ and was licensed.  On the 29th of November 1998 he was ordained as a minister by Reverend Angela Long, Greater New Life Ministries.

Under the guidance of Pastor Thomas Spiritual Warriors Homeless and Recovery Ministry has grown from a handful of people to a fellowship of families serving God’s people living clean and sober Christian lifestyles through God’s word.  The ministry has met the physical needs of the homeless population of El Cajon having supplied over 2,000 new sleeping bags, 600 pairs of new shoes, blankets, women’s care packages, and has fed thousands with nourishment and God’s Word.

In December 2004 God directed Pastor Thomas to Voices of Victory Christian Ministry where he led Spiritual Warriors Ministry to join in a 12-church fellowship under the guidance of Bishop Willie Moore.  In July 2006 Pastor Thomas was asked to accept the office of Chief of Staff in Voices of Victory International Fellowship.  The goal is to help educate and unite other church organizations in ministering to the needs of God’s people.

On July 1st, 2006, Pastor Thomas’ long-standing vision of opening a sober living discipleship home was fulfilled.  Through the hard work and devotion of Pastor Thomas with his congregation and the support of our fellowship churches, he opened a 12-man discipleship house where we currently have eight men living a clean and sober lifestyle following the path of Christ.

Pastor Thomas’ vision for the future is to have a Christian community center with a full kitchen and shower facilities.  We are currently working on raising money for this center which will provide the basic needs to our brothers and sisters without permanent addresses.   Pastor Thomas’ vision is to have a center where all can come, build and strengthen their families, and fellowship with our Christian family in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Pastor Vincent Thomas is married to Betty Thomas of San Diego.  Between them they have three daughters, one son, and two grandchildren.
